Karly

It was almost five o’clock, which meant it was almost time for me to get off. Tomorrow I had an interview with the branch manager for a financial analyst position at a major marketing firm downtown. I was super excited because being a manager at a ratchet check cashing spot was not my dream career. I mean it was okay for work, but it just wasn’t getting a rise out of me like I needed as far as career wise. King made me miss my open house interview I had when I was supposed to go look at that place I wanted to move to. I think he did that mess on purpose though. He doesn’t want me to move.

When five came, I quickly gathered my things and waved at the night manager who was coming in. I hopped in the car and checked my phone to see if King had called me back, but he hadn’t. He’s been gone like four days now. I called to talk to him earlier checking on him, and he sounded so distant. I understood though, because he was sort of a mama’s boy growing up, so I knew he was just concerned. He said she was alert and talking more now though. I think she is being discharged today. I was annoyed because the only messages I had were on Facebook from Jason, Trevor’s friend. He was in my inbox telling me Trevor was spiraling, and he never seen him like that. He said that some days he’s doing fine, and others he’s weird and acting out, doing stupid shit. I messaged him back telling him I no longer had anything to do with him and told him he should talk to his new girl.

I ran a couple errands and went home then went straight to the back bathroom to take a bath. I was getting ready to make something to eat. I made a grilled chicken salad since I was trying to cut calories and grabbed a water and sat on the couch watching reality TV, or what my mom calls trash TV. Jhena had texted me saying she wanted to meet and talk because she missed me, and I responded back saying I would let her know what day works best for me. I can’t lie and say I don’t miss her. She had been a great friend to me besides our current differences. We had our moments where women aggravate each other, but we never fell out like this before. I decided I would try and talk things out I guess. It’s still weird for me though.

My Facebook messenger dinged again, and I looked at it. Jason sent me a message that confused the hell out of me. It said:

Jason: I’m serious Karly. He has me concerned. I know you guys are no longer together, but he’s been saying some really weird stuff lately. He’s pissed that you have moved on…you humiliated him again the other day and he’s been saying reckless stuff.
